My favorite books:
"Waldon" - Thoreau
Anything by Elizabeth Peters, Mary Stuart, Steven King, Grisham, Koontz, Frank McCourt, James Redfield (to name a few contemporary Authors, without straining my brain too much).
I love Mid-evil/old England history.
I usually have several books going at the same time:'Entertainment','Positive Thinking', and something that pertains to 'Research', of one topic or another ("Redemption", ((The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America)) by 'Nathan Winograd', comes to mind here :) . I read what I'm in the mood for, and my moods change a lot.
My favorite quote:"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have." 'Margaret Mead'
My last book:"The Enchanted Cup", Dorothy James Roberts
Occupation:Caregiver
My hobbies:reading, writing, thrift-store scavenging, gardening, "Texas Hold-em" :)...frustrated-musician

I am a politically active "No Kill" animal advocate. I volunteer in the areas of shelter-reform, spay/neuter, hands-on shelter work, as well as off-site adoptions. (Currently, I'm taking a break from a little of this to recharge my battery and do some writing).

My 'Winter Poetry' contest entry "Left Out in the Cold" is a way for me to honor some of the animal and human heroes I've come to know and love, as well as bring into light (for those who do not see)a few of the plights our domestic animal-population faces - try to move a few hearts into action.

Many of the animals still being killed in our traditional shelters, are adoptable and treatable, yet, an estimated 4-5 million are still being killed on a yearly basis. Putting a name and a face - telling the story of one dog or a cat - personalizes what is all too frequently ignored when we talk of this world-wide crisis in general terms.

I Like to write for several reasons: I find it to be a great way to do a little 'emotional cleansing'; put things in order, and ponder on what is really relevant to my life.
I also try to be diligent and sincere when I bring (what I consider) an issue of great importance into the view of other reader's eyes.

I love reading about other people's personal discoveries along the road of life, and what is important to them. I also enjoy diving into a good writer's galaxy of fantasy; swim through the plethora of emotions they're able to evoke in their readers.

CONGRATULATIONS

Robin, I am very happy and proud that your book "Left Out in the Cold" made it to the TOP 10 books in the Winter & Poems contest. I know that it is well deserved. More power to your elbows.

Robin, your book should be required reading for every animal control employee, shelter worker and rescue group. Bless you always for your love and caring of homeless animals(the voiceless). No Kill shelters are the only way.

Thank you for your kind words. I am finally writing down everything I and other family members heard for many, many years about my grandmother but never paid attention to the details until now. This is a learning process for myself and I appreciate your comments. I will take them into consideration. I will read your books this upcoming weekend and will send you my comments. Thanks again!
