What the Jury had to say*:

Jury Comments on O’Hara’s Hat by djreid:

“Driven by dialog and manners, we gradually become fond of these characters and they discover a spark between them. Although not a "classic" romance story involving highly erotic moments, this quirky tale of burgeoning love is charming and timeless in its way.” – Robert Peake

“It was a quick glimpse into the lives of two people who were meant to be due to their different personalities. The dialogue in this story only added to the tone of the story….The “hat” that the story revolves around is an endearing symbol between the events that occur in people’s lives and the memories that evolve around them. Items and individuals may be forgotten but that does not mean they are never found again….It is an endearing story that is driven by the dialogue to be offbeat and quirky, yet charming.” – Danika Migliore

“This is a delightfully engaging story!... I was also bowled over, so to speak, by their clever, humorous and natural-sounding dialog about the mysterious derby… this quirky yet subtle romance had me smiling from the very first sentence and all the way through to the end.” – Teri Breier

Jury Comments on The Queen Mystique by sereni:

“What a lovely metaphor—a widowed mom reconstructing her life finds and restores a castoff antique (and apparently enchanted) chair. Your in-depth knowledge of the subject matter really makes this story work, as well as your excellent writing talents. This allows you to weave fascinating details about furniture refinishing with a charming touch of magic into this romantic fable and make it believable.” – Teri Breier
“The main character is developed in a way that the reader is able to relate to her and empathize with her right away. The joy and attachment that she has in the chair she discovers is conveyed well enough that the reader feels a connection with this chair as well. The story is so well written that the reader can feel the pain and comfort that the main character feels when she comes across an object that belonged to her husband.” – Danika Migliore

“This original concept leads to an unexpected tale of romance. This story takes the reader on a journey of discovery.” – Robert Peake

Jury Comments on Chance Contacts by gingermeggs:

“The relationship that starts to grow between the two characters is full of budding romance. It is easy to tell that both characters are smitten with each other and are feeling the effects of new love… The ending of the story gives a nice wrap up to their relationship. Their love for each other will keep Tom’s father alive and will allow them a great life.” – Danika Migliore

“A simple modern love story is complicated by circumstances, leading to an unexpected end. This story touches on the romance of enduring love.” – Robert Peake

*The jury provided comments for all of the top ten and wildcard picks in this contest (as well as extended comments). The comments will be sent via private BookRix messages to the finalists.
