Vegetarian Bacon

Well I finally got around to trying the "Tofu Bacon" I will never put a recipe on here again until I try it for myself.

In case any of you tried it, I am sorry. Or perhaps I am just not doing it right.

It tasted fine, but no way did it remind me of bacon. It was... Show more

Is food still safe after the expiration date? This sight will tell you how long you can store your food safely.

That's a handy website - thanks!

P.S. I don't eat food after the expiration date, unless it's only one day later. However, I have a really sensitive stomach, so I don't want to push it.

I bookmarked that one, Ken. Thanks. It will put an end to many hours discussion between my wife and I. LOL

Grown Up Slushies! (Mint Juleps & Kentucky Bourbon Slush)

I recently asked folks to pop over and read my latest compilation of humorous and reflective (and sometimes humorously reflective) shorts in my When a Southern Woman Rambles series. The latest is 5 stories called 'Laughing at Life, One Mint Julep at a Time'

Then I was asked - What is a Mint Julep?

And that's when it dawned on my that there's an entire 'rest of the world' that doesn't really know about the sweet little... Show more

I saw the non-alcoholic recipe change, but was intrigued by the "hard" version, hence the mention of indulging, lol! I probably will try the non-alcoholic kind, though - thanks, Avery.

RebeckDawn

I'm not one for white sugar, do you think I could make this with agave or maple syrup?

L. Avery Brown

Honey is actually the best option if you don't want to use a refined white sugar. Historically, honey was the most common 'syrupy' sugar to be used when called for in recipes like this.

In fact, there are several exquisite HONEY WHISKEY (or Honey Bourbon - depending on who you... Show more

If you gave up chocolate with the hope of shrinking your waistline, you may want to reconsider that decision. New research from the University of California, San Diego, found that adults who ate chocolate often were actually wait... Show more

I really miss titles to our posts.

At least the old ones from before the change are really missing something.

What is this about, (I don't know it just looks like it started in the middle of a thought)

Well it did. I posted a recipe for Hot cocoa mix.

The title of the post was ... TA DA "Recipe for Hot cocoa mix."

Now looking at the post. Well I guess you will have to make it to find out what it is.
It just starts with the... Show more

I think we can try to make things easier by posting a bold first line to make it seem like a title when you're creating a post, like

BEST RECIPE FOR VEGAN CHOCOLATE CAKE

And then leave a few spaces before you post the recipe.
Will that help?

revkenr

Thanks Rebecca. That is not a problem now that I know there are no title lines, but the old posts from before the big change have all lost their titles.

I suppose in a month or two it won't matter that much, but for now, you just have to guess at what the first line was in many posts.

RebeckDawn

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I wish that the title from before could have just been moved to the first line of the post, you know???

I've been saving onions now for ages...no problem.

revkenr

I had a friend tell me this, and I always use only a part of an onion and save the rest for later.

Now for my next gripe.

Time to relax. After the aggravation of the FaceBookNiks messing with our site, my suggestion for relaxation is as follows: Pour a large glass of fine ale, or wine, and toast your friends on BookRix. Then take a long slug and settle back in your chair.

Done?

Well Cheers to you all!

Well Trevor decided he had had all he could take of the new Bookrix format. He has found a new writing site.

He'll be missed.
