Critique Partner Thread

By: TanyaB.

Important Post

This thread is a sort of dating thread for writers to find a matching partner to help edit your book while you edit theirs.

Do you want to one day self publish, but need fresh eyes to view your book?

Would you love to have someone who involves their time looking for plot holes and grammar issues and at the same time, you return the favor by looking at their work?

Post your title here and tell us the genre the story is in and how... Show more

This is a great idea! Thank you for this thread, Tanya. Once I post up more books, I'll post them up here. And perhaps even my journalism articles.

TanyaB.

I'm glad you think this might be helpful to you :).

I forgot to mention that like dating partners, it takes time to find the right writing partner, so look around and see who is the best match for you.

Apologies for any typos in this thread, I'm dead tired :P.

This is a terrific idea! Definitely going to do this once I get my own up as well. 8)

A small reminder.

This thread is for advertising your book and not the entry thread of the contest.

Since the contest is for Young Adults, and this group is for young writers and readers, it's a good place to get your book read and see what young ones think of it.

So, advertise... Show more

I've decided to put a book in the contest, and I would love some feedback on how to improve it.. Thanks. If you have read it, I've added a lot more to make the story more interesting.

~How much time did you spend researching & planning your story?
~Are your characters purely fictitional, or based on people you know/observed in the local community?
~Are you showcasing a complete story, a work in... Show more

A reminder to all who had their books up in the now forgotten 'Group Book list'. You can put your books in this thread and add the blurb or whatever you want to attract people to read it.

This is where you can submit the first page of your BookRix book for critique.

We are focusing on improvements with grammar, spelling, punctuation etc, so if you think that's an area you'd like some help with, copy and paste the first page of your story and put the title in the subject line.

Don't worry about getting it wrong. We all got it wrong at some point. Still do! Remember, you have to start somewhere and we're all here... Show more

When/if we create a new word when we pen our stories should we have the right to dictate the pronunciation? Or should we allow the majority of our readers to determine the way in which it should be said?

Steve Whilhite creator of the gif has found himself in a similar dilemma.

Gif inventor says pronounce it 'Jif' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22620473 The inventor of the Gif image format says it should be pronounced Jif, despite what the Oxford English Dictionary says.

I had a co-admin for this group, but now I'm scrambling to take over the group, as she deleted her account with no warning, explanation, or farewell. It should bloom into a great group if I had people to help me. The goal is to be an aid for translating books into other languages, and I can only do French by myself. If I had someone, or someones, with structure to help me keep the group up and to help me find translators for... Show more

FREE to enter.

The competition is open to anyone and everyone over the age of 18 and we’ll be accepting submissions until 30th June 2013.

Although we want stories that feature crime, we don’t want you to be tied to the traditional crime writing genre. While we’re more than happy to accept murder mysteries and police procedurals and any stories of that ilk, crime is just the theme for our first competition. You can write in any... Show more
