I really enjoyed the book, except for the animal abuse. The story was well written and interesting. I'm stoked about watching the movie. I can see Christopher Waltz as the husband, he plays a brilliant villain. Robert Pattinson plays, yet again another brooding and pain stricken character. It works for him. Reese will be superb as she always is in her movies.
I've heard many people walked out of the movie due to the animal abuse. I can see why, I cried in the book for Rosie and for the other animals. It was a hard time back then because of the depression. Even still, the elephants are trained with those shocking sticks. Thus, I never go to circus's. I do not support such actions with animals. I can barely enjoy a zoo. I think animals should be in the wild, not caged for entertainment. Some zoo's are useful when helping out animals and then getting them back out to the wild. There are fine lines in everything.
Last week, I was on the phone with my childhood best friend and she could not stop raving about the book she had just finished; "Water for Elephants." She kept talking about how she had just finished it in the neck of time; right before it had hit theaters.
I am always interested in indulging in a new book, and after watching these trailers attached to this link, I could not be more interested in starting to read "Water for Elephants." Once I am done reading the book, I cannot wait to go see the movie! Reese Witherspoon is my favorite actress, and Robert Pattinson is nice to look at it, so all in all, "Water for Elephants" looks like the perfect first summer read of the season! Can't wait!!
I have read the book (which is amazing), but I haven't seen the movie. I heard that the movie was only okay (from the people who had read it), and GREAT from the people who had not read it. Funny how that works, right?
