I enjoyed reading this, Karis. I felt drawn in by the unfolding events and wanted to know what would happen. Is this the start of a novel? That's what it feels like, and if so I look forward to reading the rest.

I think you are a promising writer
I actually first read this when it was entered in the travel stories competition, and it stood out for me as one of the better entries. I was too mean-minded to vote for it as I had entered a story myself (actually, I'm pretty disillusioned with the way competitions work at bookrix).
You describe well the way relationships can go wrong and much rang true. You have a smooth, flowing writing style and have the knack of including detail that adds interest (as opposed to tedium).
Just one thing - I found myself confused with characters and places at times - perhaps more signposting required for people like me? (but then I'm notorious for getting lost in movies as well).
You asked me to comment on your winter poems also, but as love poems are not my thing at all I won't be doing that (though I did like your metaphor about slow dancing).
