What is SocialBookİ?
SocialBookİ is a new social media application tool, created by BookRix, that allows you to write in an online book collaboratively with friends about anything while being located anywhere with as many friends as you want, through social media, namely via Facebook and Twitter. You get to decide the topic of which you want to write about in your SocialBookİ, with collecting either all your message posts or those identified by a topic hashtag, which you have to set during the creation of your SocialBookİ.

A quick glance: How does SocialBookİ work?
A BookRix member creates a SocialBookİ and invites their Twitter, Facebook or BookRix friends to participate and contribute as co-authors in the social writing project.

The invited co-authors follow the link in the SocialBookİ invitation, connect their BookRix account with their Facebook or Twitter accounts and then participate in the SocialBookİ.

All Facebook status updates or tweets on Twitter, which include and use the pre-determined keyword hashtag, (example: #moviequote) will be included in the SocialBookİ on BookRix.

What do I need to use SocialBookİ?
All you need is a free BookRix account to create or participate in a SocialBookİ using the social media application. You can register for a BookRix account easily in just a couple steps for free. In the following manual guides you can find out exactly how to use the SocialBookİ application feature:

How to Create a SocialBookİ and Invite Participants:

Once you have registered for your BookRix account and logged in, click on the “My Books” link located on your personal BookRix home page tab. Click on the “Create New Book” link and then go to the select button listed next to “SocialBookİ.” Click “Select” to create your SocialBookİ and follow the instructions on the page:

Step 1: “Book Format”
Select the book format "SocialBookİ.”

Step 2: “Book Data”
Fill out the information about your SocialBookİ. The fields “Title,” “Author” and “Category” are required. By adding “Keywords” and “Book Description,” your book will be easier to find by others on the site and on the web.

Step 3: “Import of Book Content”
There are several tasks under this step:

A.) Selection:
Do you want to write via Facebook, Twitter or the BookRix toolbar? Select your preferred option. If this is the first time you are connecting either your Facebook or Twitter account to BookRix, you will be asked to log in to either of those sites and allow access for the SocialBookİ social media application to complete the connection. See the next step.

B.) Connect Accounts
If you haven’t connected your BookRix account to your Twitter or Facebook account yet, you will have to click the “Connect Now” link. You will be redirected to the log in page of either Facebook or Twitter, and you have to log in to connect your accounts. By connecting your Facebook and/or Twitter account, you will be using the BookRix-created SocialBookİ application on those sites.

Once you have connected your social media account to BookRix, you will be redirected back to BookRix. There you should see a screen that confirms that your accounts have been connected successfully.

C.) Hashtag Selection
By selecting a specific word or phrase to use as a hashtag, you can filter posts that you or your invited co-authors will want to include in a particular SocialBookİ. Only you and your friends’ posts including the set hashtag will appear in your SocialBookİ (eg: #bestjokes).

If a hashtag was not set during the creation of a SocialBookİ and you connected your social media account to SocialBookİ, then all the Facebook posts or tweets on Twitter written by you and your co-authors will be fed into the SocialBookİ unfiltered!

D.) Friend and Co-Author Invitations
In this step, you can invite Facebook friends or Twitter followers to participate in your SocialBookİ. Choose whether you want to invite just select contacts or all of your contacts for your new SocialBookİ. You can also invite your BookRix friends by either typing in their usernames or selecting them directly from the list with checkboxes. The selected co-authors from your contact lists will be invited to participate in your SocialBookİ on Facebook, Twitter or BookRix.

E.) Entry Details
In this step you can decide which information should be displayed alongside individual posts in your SocialBookİ: the member’s username, profile image, date and time of post and where the post was received from.

Step 4: "Cover"
Follow the instructions of the Cover Editor. You can create your own book cover by uploading an image directly from your computer, or by selecting one of the BookRix cover design templates. Before continuing, you must click the “Save Cover” button to the right to save your changes before continuing on.

Step 5: "Book Saving"
Choose for whom the book should be visible (you can later change it under “Edit Book” or “Manage Books” sections) and finish creating your SocialBookİ by clicking on the “Save” button. It will take a moment for your SocialBookİ to be saved. The invitations will be sent to your friends at the same time.

Your SocialBookİ has been created! What’s next?
Start tweeting and posting using the assigned hashtag! Your SocialBookİ will be updated every 15 minutes. Don’t forget, you can also post directly in the BookRix toolbar as well.

Enjoy your social writing experience - we look forward to reading your SocialBookİ!

I was invited to participate in a SocialBookİ - what’s next?
There are three different ways to receive a SocialBookİ invitation:

  1. BookRix: when you have logged in to your BookRix profile, you will find the link to your SocialBookİ invitations underneath the Inbox icon to the upper right. Click on the “Open invitations for SocialBooksİ.“ You also will receive a personal message and an email with the SocialBookİ invitation and link to follow.

  2. Facebook: when the original author of the SocialBookİ has sent you an invitation to participate through Facebook, it will appear on your Facebook wall. You can go to the SocialBookİ via the link in the invitation within the wall post.

  3. Twitter: when the original author of the SocialBookİ has sent you an invitation through Twitter, it will be sent to you in a direct message on Twitter. You can go to the SocialBookİ via the link in the invitation within the direct message.

Accepting the SocialBookİ Invitation
In all three scenarios, responding to the invitation is the same. Follow the SocialBookİ invitation link and you will be directed to your personal SocialBookİ invitation page on BookRix. There, you can respond to the invitation by either accepting or declining it. If you do not already have a BookRix account, you’ll have to register for free to accept the invitation. You can then accept or decline the invitation.

If you accept the invitation, you will be asked if you would like to participate through Facebook, Twitter or the BookRix toolbar. If you have not already done so, you will then need to connect your Facebook or Twitter account to your BookRix account. Please read the next step on how to connect your accounts from either Facebook or Twitter.

Connecting your Facebook or Twitter Accounts to BookRix
You will be asked to log in and link your BookRix account with your Twitter or Facebook account. To use SocialBookİ with your social media profiles, you will need to grant access and “allow” the SocialBookİ application on Facebook or Twitter. This is necessary to enable the SocialBookİ application to import your posts or tweets into the SocialBookİ on BookRix.

If you want to change the connection in the future to your Facebook or Twitter account, you can do so by clicking on the “Profile Settings” under the “Home” tab and then click “Account Settings.” There you will see a “Change“ button where you can change your Facebook or Twitter account connections. Click on the button and follow the prompts to change your connections.

Invitation via Facebook and Twitter
If you have been invited to participate in a SocialBookİ on Twitter or Facebook, you will be prompted to link your BookRix account with that account. If you have been invited via Facebook, you must first link your BookRix account with your Facebook account. Likewise for Twitter. However, you can always write a SocialBookİ entry via the BookRix toolbar in addition to writing via Twitter or Facebook.

Invitation via BookRix:
If you have received an invitation to a SocialBookİ via BookRix, you have the choice whether you want to participate via Facebook or Twitter as well as the BookRix toolbar.

I want to become a co-author on a SocialBookİ - how do I do that?

If you see a SocialBookİ you want to participate in, click the “request to be a co-author” link located on the SocialBookİ webpage on the middle-right. If the author has allowed co-authors to join automatically, you will be allowed to participate immediately. Otherwise, the author must approve your co-author request before you can write in the book.

You’re all set to collaborate with SocialBooksİ!
When you have become a co-author of a SocialBookİ and linked your social media accounts successfully, you will be directed back to your SocialBookİ invitation overview page. You then will be an official co-author of a SocialBookİ. Congratulations! As soon as you write a tweet on Twitter or a status update on Facebook with the assigned hashtag, it will be included in the SocialBookİ within 15 minutes.

Hashtags are optional so you can choose which posts end up in specific SocialBooksİ
The author who sent you the invitation may have set a specific hashtag during the creation of their SocialBookİ to filter which posts should be included in it, generally, it’s topic or genre specific. If a hashtag was not set, all your posts from Twitter or Facebook will be included in the SocialBookİ if you have connected your social media account to the SocialBookİ. The information about which hashtag has been assigned, or whether a hashtag has been assigned or not, can be found on the specific SocialBookİ webpage, the “Invitation Overview” and “My Books” pages.

So now you’re familiar with SocialBookİ by BookRix - how many can you make?
You can create as many collaborative writing projects as you want with SocialBookİ. The possibilities are endless! To join in the discussion about the SocialBookİ feature, visit the SocialBookİ Group on BookRix. And don’t forget, it’s easy to share, comment on or give feedback on SocialBooksİ, just like regular books on BookRix!

Enjoy your social writing experience - we look forward to reading your SocialBookİ!
