Dulces de Coco

Bittersweet poems and stories By:
Dulces de Coco
Life isn't sweet, but it doesn't have to be completely bitter. It is what we make of it and these poems and stories try to portray just that. That is why I have titled this book Dulces de Coco or Coconut Candies.
This is a combination of the stories and poems that I have written. Many of the pieces in this book are inspired by my childhood, the stories my relatives have told me and my culture.

That layer that others see as weak and mild, is your foundation. It's what makes you so uniquely you.
It's also the very reason why you will always have love in your life. What you put out into the world, the universe, will always come back to you, two fold.
You couldn't turn your back on Adele, no matter how ignoring. You were doing what you were purposed to do and that's to show your loving heart.
I enjoyed this very much Angely.

Ah Angely, this little addition is kind of precious:) You tied the geological motif together so well, and the interaction with the old lady made me smile...at your natural patience. Didn't trust you after all that with $10.00? Laughing. Lord have mercy!

You are right in knowing that some day...!

Another small thought; a possibility. The old lady (the old man, the beggar on the street). Perhaps that person was an angel sent to... Show more

I simply love reading tales of yesteryear, Angely.

I could relate to your tale of 'Mud' and absolutely love your poems with their deep meaning & beautiful expressions. My favorites being, 'The River Between You and Me' and 'Eyes'.

Thank you, for sharing this wonderful book with us. It was great to learn more about you & your family.

Lol, I've got to tell you, when I read you're description of "Condom-onium," I thought you were going to talk about the weirdest places you've seen them... Lord, do I have some stories to tell about that.

I love this one. You did a lovely job writing this memoir-esque collection of shorts, and now I'm excited to read more of your work!

This is a story to remember. The poetry and the short stories combined together made it even more memorable. It is indeed a bittersweet story to share. I like the "Mud" story also the poem you made for your brother, "Angels". It gives me a combination of sad and happy feelings. Yes, it is bittersweet. Great story!

A really fun and interesting read :) For some reason, I can't seem to write about myself. I don't know why. It just feels wrong somehow, like if I did, I'd leave something out, or put it wrong. I really loved this. It was honest and alive. Thank you for writing it. And I love the poem "The Stars On David." Truly great :)

Thank you!!! And I understand how you feel, I don't think I'm very interesting, which is why I try to put a lot of focus on the people around me and their stories, it makes it easier to find my voice. Maybe you can give that a try. It makes memoirs so much easier when you aren't the only focus.

That's great advice :) Thank you.
