BOOKBINDING, AND THE CARE OF BOOKS
In 1893 he was apprenticed to Cobden-Sanderson’s Doves Bindery and set up his own London bindery in 1897. He became an influential voice in the development of bookbinding and conservation standards through his teaching at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and his book on Bookbinding and the Care of Books (1901).
