Thank you for sharing your grief Norman. It is not something any parent should
have to go through. I think those raising children without mental health
issues have no idea what it is like to have a loved one slowly or suddenly
spin out of control without help available. The 72 hour commitment takes all
control and contact away from parents and it is terrifying how easily all
one's rights are taken away. Talk about putting parents in a horrific
position. We know our kids and often know when something is wrong. But we have
no real resources. No help and certainly little sympathy. America lives in the
grand delusion that Mental Health issues do not exist or are so small as to be
insignificant. For those of us raising children with differences, our lives
and the lives of our children prove that the country is failing us.
