‘One heart is all I have’ is a highly enjoyable character study exploring some profound issues in a light-hearted format which is both compelling and entertaining. Anna is a young, emerging writer who happens to meet a bad-tempered man called Eduard at Frankfurt airport. Their paths cross several times before Eduard boldly suggests that he would be a good subject for Anna’s next book. Intrigued by the complexities of his difficult yet unique personality, she accepts the challenge. Her somewhat turbulent journey of discovery takes her to the former East Germany and introduces her to some of the other women who have known Eduard, all of whom have interesting stories of their own to tell. She must be careful, though, to heed her best friend’s advice and avoid falling into Eduard’s vampiric trap.
