His chest was broad
His shoulders muscled
His rear drew the eye
His brown eyes were kindly
A gentle soul he seemed
But I was having none of it
My heart had been trampled
By another
No matter of coaxing
Would earn my trust
I turned my back on him
Intent on leaving
I felt his breath on my neck
I froze in place
He dropped his head
Gently over my shoulder
Pulling me back
Against his chest
In a horse hug
My heart melted
Forever his
I wrote the check
Don’t remember how much
No value can be placed
On this gracious steed
My soul mate
