As Steinbeck once said "All war is a symptom of man's failure as a thinking animal" well, depression is a war, it may not seem like it to those that have never dealt with it, but for those who struggle with it understand that depression is war, everyday becomes a struggle, it becomes hard to work up the strength to get out of bed everyday, things you used to enjoy don't interest you anymore, you mind becomes a battle field. Suicide is most often caused by depression, most people that struggle with it often times don't reach out for help, but that is exactly what I need for you to do, join this group, reach out for help, don't deal with this alone. We all love you and none of your problems would ever be shared among other non group members!!

Can I see how much my book is making from specific markets?
Can I see how much my book is making from specific markets?

Yes, you can get an overview in your "Sale Figures" field under "My Account Details". From here you can check out your stats from our more popular shops.

I know my book has been sold on the external markets but my sales statistics are not reflecting that. Why is this?
I know my book has been sold on the external markets but my sales statistics are not reflecting that. Why is this?

If your book was sold on the external markets then it will take about 6-8 weeks for the stats and figures to appear in your "Sale Figures" field. These numbers are updated monthly near the middle/end of each month. For example if your book was purchased in January, you will not see the stats in your BookRix account until the end of March, possibly April. We update the numbers as soon as we receive them.

What about fanfiction?
What about fanfiction?

Here comes some legal mumbo jumbo. Fanfiction normally uses content of existing works (films, books, etc.). However, often this happens without the permission of the authors or the rights’ holders. Even if fanfiction authors accurately represent the copyright holders in their books, this does not qualify as legal approval from the copyright holder allowing use of his or her work for fanfiction literature. Therefore, a large part of fanfiction works are legally inadmissible. So the fanfiction category can be seen as an invitation to violate copyright and we want to avoid such complications. So, in other words it’s not OK so don’t do it.

But on the bright side, there’s also legal fanfiction which are fanfiction books based on books or films whose very kind authors allow the use of the content. These books may be posted on BookRix, according to our General Terms and Conditions (remember the great rules of BookRix). In this case, you have to select the appropriate category (e.g. science fiction or fantasy) in the Subcategory field. You can introduce any other category you want to.

Book Search
Book Search

Locating a book on BookRix is simple when using the search field. You can find a book using the authors username, author name, book title, or keywords.

You can also just click on the Books page to browse through all the books. Once you’re on the Books page, you can narrow your search again by choosing either Books for Sale or Free Books.  From here, there are even more ways to narrow your search, including Categories, Languages, and our drop down list that includes a variety of book sorting options: last updated, newest books, best rated, most widely read, alphabetical order, and by number of pages.

*If your family filter is turned on, you will not have access to restricted materials. To modify this setting, click the arrow next to your avatar/screen name in the header and select My Account Details from the drop-down menu.

Personal Messages, Notifications, Etc.
Personal Messages, Notifications, Etc.

We recommend staying connected on BookRix. Sending and receiving personal messages, confirming friend requests, participating in group discussions, leaving book comments – all of this information is organized for you within 3 small icons located at the top of your page.

Friend Requests

This icon resembles two people shaking hands and is the first of the 3 icons. This is where you will receive friend requests from community members.

Personal Messages

Personal message come directly to you from other members. They can be sent specifically to you, or they can be sent as a group message to various users at once. To access your personal messages, click the second icon that looks like an envelope at the top of your page. When you click the envelop icon, the first 5 messages from your inbox will be displayed. To view additional messages you can click View All Messages

Within your message inbox, you can view all your incoming messages and get access to your sent mail by selecting Outbox. You can Compose a New Message from this page as well.

You can also send private messages to members by going directly to their profile page and clicking Send Message.

Tip: When composing a new message, you can type the name of the recipient in the recipient field and all names matching the text entered will appear in a list for you to click on. If you want to send a message to all your BookRix friends, you can check the box Send to All Friends

Tip: If you want to only receive messages from your BookRix friends, you can go into My Account Details, then My Account Settings and then check the box I want to receive messages only from my friends.

Notifications

Notifications are located in the third icon that resembles a horn. This is where you will find new group discussions, friend request confirmations, comments made on your books, members who have added your book to their Favorites, and comments made on your posts in profile and groups.
