Technically speaking, No. Writers cannot publish an identical book with more than one publisher. THe author must make a change to the book to justify a new ISBN being issued and identify the book as a “New edition”. Once this change has been made, the writer can upload and sell their book via BookRix Self-Publishing services.
Yes. Since the rights of your content belong to you (remember, what you wrote is yours), you can decide where you would like to publish them (on your homepage, online boards, etc.). However, if you have your book for sale, you can’t use another publisher to publish the same eBook in the online eBook market.
Of course. As long as you comply with the Code of Conduct (The great rules of BookRix), you can publish any manuscript to which you hold the copyright. But again, if your book is already published with another publisher for sale, you may not be able to self-publish your eBook via BookRix.
You, as the author of the book, will always have access to the entire book for free. If you wish to see what your book looks like to another users, simply log out of your account and access your book. You will see that only a 10% reading sample is available.
TIP: Keep in mind that if your book is marked with an 18+ age recommendation (adult content only) then you will not be able to get access to your book if you are logged out of BookRix. The system needs to recognize the age of the user, therefore, anyone who is not logged in, is a minor, has their family filter turned on, or doesn’t have the age filled out on their profile will not be able to access a book marked with an 18+ age recommendation.
Reading an eBook on BookRix is easy. Once you find a book you’re interested in reading, just click the book cover or book title and this will take you to the Book Info page. From here, you can either click on the book cover once more or click Read Book (this option is available on free books) or Reading Sample (this option applies to books for sale). Clicking either of these options will take you to our book viewer where you can begin reading.
Tip: If an author has placed their book for sale, they will offer a free reading sample. This is approximately 10% of the book. It is intended to get the reader interested in reading more.
Tip: If you have not finished reading a book and want to return to it, you can add the title to your favorites and it will appear on your profile page. The book will automatically be bookmarked for you.
When you’re reading a book within the book viewer, you will see two icons at the top of each page. The one on the left, shaped like a house, will take you directly to the BookRix homepage. The icon on the right, shaped like a list, will open the table of contents so you can easily move from one chapter to another. If you’re reading a sample of a book for sale, you will also see a Buy This Book button that will give you a list of online shops you can purchase the book in.
